Hainanese Chicken $7.95
Cafe D'Like is quite famous for their Hainanese Chicken and I was excited to try their variation of the ever so popular dish.To say the least: I was disappointed, VERY disappointed. I had tremendously high expectations given the rave reviews by other bloggers. The texture of the chicken was silky,and tasted fresh, not many complaints there. The rice though! The rice was on the dry side and lacked the flavour one expects from Hainanese rice. It also looked kind of disgusting in the container, reminiscent of day old rice. The sauce was mediocre at best, it lacked tanginess and was overly sweet. And where was the green onion/ginger sauce!? I was disappointed it wasn't included as that's usually my favourite part of Hainanese Chicken.
